Photograph

[edit]

If anyone has a decent photo of this tree before it was damaged by the 2003 fire, please add it to the page. —Eoghanacht 15:38, 2005 Apr 7 (UTC)

I don't have one, but you can ask at Wikipedia:Requested images. -- hike395 15:55, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Thanks, added it under N. American places. —Eoghanacht 16:05, 2005 Apr 7 (UTC)
I found two photos and linked to the page under External Links. Hope this helps. Rossumcapek 02:57, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Location

[edit]

Thanks for finding the tree location. The best I could do was locate the grove, which is why I placed the lat/long where I had. I split the first sentence just to clarify that the lat/long is for the tree itself. —Eoghanacht 17:32, 2005 Apr 7 (UTC)

Requested move 30 April 2025

[edit]

– The main guideline motivating these moves is WP:NATURAL, which prefers titles that are also commonly used (e.g. Washington Tree) vs a parenthetical disambiguator (e.g., Washington (tree)).

The main question is: what is the most commonly used name for all of these Giant Sequoia? Washington Tree or Washington tree? The capitalized form "Washington Tree" (and equivalent) seems to be the most common. See, e.g., Washington Tree Google ngrams, Boole Tree Google ngrams, General Grant Tree Google ngrams, President Tree Google ngrams.

There are two other considerations:
