Yet another English translation

[edit]

I remember learning this one online about ten years ago (alongside the Robeson version) but it doesn't seem to be among the many listed here. The official CPSU translation from 1944 looks most similar but the chorus and third verse are still completely unalike. Does anyone know the source of this?

  • I
    • Unbreakable union of freeborn republics,
    • The Great Rus has welded forever to stand"
    • Created in struggle by will of the reople,
    • United and mighty our Soviet land!
  • Chorus
    • Sing to the motherland, home of the free.
    • Bulwark of peoples in brotherhood strong.
    • Oh, party of Lenin, the strength of the people,
    • To Communism's triumph lead us on.
  • II
    • Through tempests, the sunrays of freedom have cheered us,
    • Along the new path where great Lenin did lead,
    • Be true to the people, thus Stalin has reared us,
    • Inspired us to labor and Valorous Deed!
  • III
    • In victory of Communism's deathless ideal,
    • We see the future of our dear land,
    • And to our fluttering scarlet banner
    • Selflessly true we always shall stand.

Alternate Spelling or different person?

[edit]

Gabriyel' Arkadyevich Ureklyan seems to be the previously mentioned El-Registan (named Gabriel Arkadyevich Ureklyan on the El-Registan page). This seems like it is a different translation, so I will have that name link to the El-Registan page for now. If this is a different person then change it back!
